ペンギン・グループ




ペンギン・グループ (Penguin Group) は、ロンドンに本社を置く出版社である。アレン・レーンによって1935年に創業、1970年にピアソンが買収した[1]。


イギリスやアイルランドの他、北米や中華人民共和国などにも事業部を置く。その中で、イギリスで展開しているものがペンギンブックス (英語版)である。多くの会社を吸収合併している。


代表的なブランドはPenguin Graded Readers（ペンギンリーダーズ）と呼ばれるレベル分けされた英語教本である。Penguin ClassicsはOxford World's Classicsとともに古典的良書を刊行することで有名。ペーパーバック版の辞書Penguin Pocket Dictionaryも発行している。


ランダムハウスなどと並ぶ大手の一角に数えられるが、そのランダムハウスと2013年に合併し、現在はペンギン・ランダムハウス社の傘下となっている。
