ในทางชีววิทยา สกุล (อังกฤษ genus) เป็นการจัดกลุ่มเอาสิ่งมีชีวิตสปีชีส์ที่มีลักษณะใกล้เคียงเข้ามารวมกัน ในการตั้งชื่อแบบทวินาม ชื่อสิ่งมีชีวิตประกอบขึ้นจากสองส่วน คือ สกุล ซึ่งต้องขึ้นต้นด้วยตัวพิมพ์ใหญ่ และ สปีชีส์ ตัวอย่างหนึ่งคือ Homo sapiens เป็นชื่อเรียกมนุษย์ อยู่ในสกุล Homo


ชื่อสกุลในอาณาจักรหนึ่งสามารถซ้ำกับชื่อสกุลหรือชื่อในอนุกรมวิธานของอาณาจักรอื่นได้ ตัวอย่างเช่น Anura เป็นชื่อสกุลของพืชในวงศ์ และเป็นชื่ออันดับของกบ Aotus เป็นชื่อสกุลของถั่วและลิง เป็นต้น แต่ชื่อสกุลในอาณาจักรหนึ่ง ๆ ต้องห้ามซ้ำกัน
